In My Own Words

My journey began in climate and soil science at the University of Reading, followed by postgraduate studies in environmental policy, law and economics at the University of Southampton. My early career was rooted in the real economy - brownfield regeneration, contaminated land, socio-economic impact assessment - before moving to Ernst & Young and then PwC, where I worked with leading global financial institutions on VC and PE environmental risk, with UNEP FI on the first generation of sustainable finance frameworks, and on the very early iterations of carbon trading.

From there I led sustainability inside two of the world's most recognisable institutions: as Head of Corporate Responsibility at Microsoft UK, and as Senior Vice President for Corporate Sustainability at Bank of America, serving as international team lead for a $20bn climate commitment. I then led advisory work at the Charities Aid Foundation - developing impact-aligned strategies for high-net-worth donors, corporations and philanthropic families - building the connective tissue between private capital and social purpose that would later inform Tribe, and driving resilient and year on year growth in revenue.

Over ten years ago, I ideated and co-founded Tribe Impact Capital - one of the world's leading impact wealth managers and a certified B Corporation. Why? Because clients who wanted to move money aligned to their values had no home, and the system had no purpose beyond accumulation and control. Tribe's first design principle was to be everything the system was not: an ecosystem that moved capital in service of life on Earth.

In April 2026, I transitioned to Non-Executive Director and Strategic Advisor - bringing that founder and operational depth into governance, and into the advisory work I now do for others.

I have worked as an intrapreneur inside major institutions, an entrepreneur building from scratch, and a senior leader across every sector. That breadth - from brownfield sites to boardrooms, from development banks to digital infrastructure, from science to capital markets - gives me a genuinely systemic lens. I understand not just what organisations should do, but what it actually takes to get there.

Living A Life of Service

Service is important to me - it’s part of my DNA. Inspired by my mother’s forty-plus years of volunteering with disabled children and horses, I have always believed that a life well lived is one in service of something greater than self. My non-executive and advisory work is a natural expression of that belief, and it is not background experience - it is a parallel career of over eighteen years, running alongside and informing my executive work throughout.

I currently serve as Global Board Trustee at ClientEarth (additionally on the Investment & Finance and People & Culture Committees) and as Co-Chair of B Lab UK. Previous board roles include The Blue Cross, Big Issue Invest, and The Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise, where I was appointed as one of HRH’s youngest trustees.

I am also a member of the Global Steering Group of the Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI), an advisor to Greenheart Consulting, and have previously served on the development councils of FaithInvest and the Ocean Plastics Leadership Network.

What I have come to understand across all of these roles is that governance done well is not a compliance exercise - it is culture, power, trust and long-term resilience held in structure. The best boards are the ones where the relationship between board and leadership is genuinely reciprocal: where challenge is offered with care, and where the organisation’s purpose is held as seriously as its balance sheet. That is the standard I bring to every non-executive role - and it is what I draw on when I advise others on building governance worthy of the organisations they are trying to build.
